Advantages of Financial Betting

The wagering or the betting on the price movement of a financial instrument such as stocks, indices, etc, at a later date in the future in relation to its current price, against the odds that a bookmaker offers is called financial betting. It has three main variations, fixed odds betting, floating odds betting and binary betting. The payoff in the case of financial betting is predetermined and therefore known to the trader when the bet is made. Similarly the potential loss or extent of loss is known to the trader and it is limited to the initial investment made.

Binary betting, Fixed odds and floating odds are the variants of financial betting. The difference between these variants is the odds displayed by the bookmaker. There are certain advantages of fixed odds betting over the financial spread betting or investing directly into the markets. These are as follows:

Fixed odds financial betting: under the fixed odds financial betting, the odds remain fixed rather the investment amount varies. This scenario presents several interesting features to the trader.

The advantages:

1. Guaranteed risk: there are many instruments that are used by traders for the purpose of trading. Fixed odds in this scenario present the unique advantage of limited risk or to say guaranteed risk, in which the potential loss is known. Moreover the loss cannot be more than the initial amount invested for the betting.

2. Simplicity: another of the advantages of fixed odds financial betting over spread betting is that it is simple and easy to understand and use. There is no need to read charts or make margin calls, or deal with leverage or stop losses as associated with spread betting. A trader simply places his bet and waits for the outcome.

3. Make handsome profits: the returns on fixed odds financial bets are very good and therefore a trader can afford to lose a few bets in the process. Therefore if strategically a trader is unable to make good money for quite some time, he should not get discouraged as one good trade would cover all the losses.

4. Control: traders are provided control over their trade and especially their entry and exit points by getting information on the real time prices on the bets before and after they are placed. This service however, is limited to a few good bookmakers. Nevertheless, this allows the traders the advantage of using the current information rather than the stale one.

5. Tax free: another of the advantage of financial betting is that it is tax free in many countries. This means that that betting on financial markets is better than directly investing into these markets. The gains from the financial betting outcome are tax free. This can be a phenomenal difference when nearly 40% is paid on capital gains tax while trading stocks.

6. Education: financial markets are something that needs to be practiced before one starts making profits. No matter how many books or chart analysis are read, the real knowledge comes only when one is in the real world trading. With financial betting the advantage is that you can initially start with small investments, so that even if there is a negative outcome, the loss is bearable.
